Complain about how we handled your information
You have a right to complain to us directly about how we have handled your personal information, and we have a duty to deal with it properly.
What to send
Tell us what happened and how to reply. Please do not attach your CV or report. If we need more information, we will explain what is necessary and how to send it safely.
What happens next
We aim to acknowledge your complaint within three working days, and within thirty days at the latest unless applicable law requires an earlier response.
We will look into it, and tell you what we found and what we have done about it. If it is going to take longer than we expected, we will tell you why rather than go quiet.
You can go to the regulator instead, or as well
You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk at any point, including while we investigate. Depending on where you are, you may also contact your local data-protection authority. The privacy notice explains the regional routes. You do not have to accept our conclusion before using them.
What we keep about your complaint
We keep a limited case record with necessary contact details, dates, findings and actions for three years after closure. We remove unnecessary detail sooner. A specific legal obligation or dispute may require limited records for longer, with a recorded reason and review date.
